Fishing ..

It seemed like my parents were
forever making me tag along on
their fishing trips.

At the time my attention span lasted
only as long as the snack my mom always
packed for me.. crackers, cheese a Nehi grape soda.

I was ready to head home as soon as
the last cracker was gone.

But now I can sit patiently with my camera..
crackers not allowed .. while the birds
do a little fishing.

A favorite spot... so many seating choices.
Something about an empty bench..
and I found a slew of them in DeLand.

But there is more .. a lot more ...
murals, sculptures and even
sandhill cranes ( they seem to be everywhere ).

Get Along Little Doggies ...

Not sure who was more startled..
me to find bison on the trail or
bison to see me walking the trail.

Usually I just see evidence that they
have been on the trail.

I didn't get too close.
There are stories about bison chasing people.

On the trail the only option is to jump in the canal..
and that really is not an option, since the gators are
out en-masse enjoying the springtime weather.

But he does look harmless .. doesn't he ??

No problem .. after ten minutes the novelty
of my presence was gone and so were the bison.

Only the second time in two years that I have
seen them up close .

The weekend was spectacular.
Rare sightings on and off the trail.
And some quality quiet time.

But for the moment it is back to work...

Vintage ..........

These are old .. maybe even older than me.
I think so because I remember my first skates.
Forever losing the key needed to adjust and tighten.

For PT ...

I can shoot an occasional occupied bench.

But I did have to dig through a lot of empty bench
shots to find these two.... and just for you my friend !!

warm weather..

and the big heron is once
again fishing at La Chua.

I am back on the trail...
camera in hand , while the
3 mile walk is still do-able.

Sandhill Cranes at home ....

What a surprise to find a pair of
sandhill cranes walking around
my yard this afternoon..

Usually it is a drive to the prairie
or across town to the south side
of campus to search for the cranes.

Now if they would just settle here
and start nesting....

Rain and more rain...

I'm not complaining about the rain.
It is needed.
Maybe me.. except for not getting
outside with the cameras,
I enjoy the downpour.

There's always shopping.

Enjoy the weekend.
