Gryphon Tea Room ....

Gryphon
337 Bull Street
at Madison Square
Savannah Georgia

Built from 1913 - 1923
formerly Solomon's Drug Store.

Like much of historic Savannah
it was saved and restored by
SCAD
( Savannah College of Art and Design )

Floor to ceiling windows, carved woodwork ,
fourteen original stained glass windows
with mortar and pestle motif convey the
original purpose of the building.

Owned by Savannah College of Art and Design
It is staffed by students, which might explain
the slightly slow service.
But that allows for a more relaxed visit.

A photo friendly place.

A wide selection of tea, pastries, scones
and other light entrees.

We came for the tea and a chance to get a few
interior shots and also a break from footing
it through the historic district.

The passion fruit tea was excellent.
