Pied - billed Grebe
Usually quiet, but when they do 'speak'
it is an unmistakable laughing sound.
The bridge and surrounding area of Lake Wauberg
is a popular feeding site for four Grebes.
Amazing to watch the Grebes diving and surfacing
with a fish that is usually larger than the bird's mouth.
Of course when he does catch a fish ,
other waterfowl will race over to try to steal it ......
the little Grebe will escape and dive to safety.
Often times losing his fish in the process.......
