Bat House Revisited ...

The Bat House across from Lake Alice on campus.

Originally built in 1991 and renovated in 2005.
Home to an estimated 200,000 Brazilian Free-tailed Bats.

On August 16th the plywood panel interior collapsed.
Approximately 100 bats perished .

The construction of a new Bat House is underway.
Meanwhile the bats have once again taken up residence
in the buildings and homes nearby.
You have to feel for those homeowners having to put up
with the stench of bat guano.
