The Florida Park system's only geological site.The sinkhole is 117 feet deep and 500 feet across.
The stairway has 232 steps to the bottom of the
sink.. I counted them on the way up....
My first trip to the Millhopper was during my
college days and before it was designated
a National Landmark in 1976.
Before the stairway with the 232 steps........
Lose your footing and slide almost to the bottom.
Then you appreciate and don't mind the walk
today up those 232 steps....
