Scenes from La Chua Trail

Someone must have warned the gators that
we would be on the trail.. armed with insect
repellent and rain ponchos.. today we needed
neither..what we did need was a gallon of cool
water.. it was really really hot out there.
Saw lots of wildlife... but not that many of the
four legged variety that we had come to see
and photograph.. guess the water was too high
and the gators were cooling off somewhere else.
The view at the end of the trail
Rachael did find this big gator in the water.
Have to admit on the return walk I was
more interested in finding a bench in the
shade and a cool breeze. Did I mention it was
hot out there.??
The first part of the journey begins on
a walkway to the Alachua Sink. If I was in
charge of the trail, I would have a bottled
water kiosk here and charge $5/bottle...
paper fans $10 .. A ride to the carpark $25.
Well... guess it is good that I am not in charge
it would ruin the experience.
Oh yeah.. we did see three or four babies.
This one doesn't seem to smart.. out on a
limb.. I think he was stuck there and
calling for his mama.....
